Inception – Did you know?

Inner Range's Inception platform has revolutionized the way we approach access control, security, and building automation. While many users are familiar with its core features, there's a wealth of advanced and lesser-known capabilities waiting to be uncovered. In this blog we'll delve into some advanced features and expert tips that can take your Inception experience to the next level.

  • Inception includes a layer 2 network broadcast “Discovery Tool”, making finding and connecting to an Inception controller extremely easy.

  • Inception includes a powerful “Commissioning Checklist”, making it quick and easy for installers to setup the system. This is a programming wizard that takes you through a series of steps so that Inception is configured to meet your specific needs. This saves significant time in setup and is very simple and easy to learn. Inception only requires a 3 hour online course.

  • Inception supports 1024 inputs and 1024 outputs which is fantastic for storage facilities. However in this product class this is double the amount of I/O when compared to others.

  • The Inception controller itself supports 4 doors and 8 OSDP/SIFER readers on-board expanding out to 128 doors and 256 OSDP/SIFER readers. This is more than enough for most single site, large scale deployments.

  • Top this off with Inception supporting 250,000 offline events and you have a system that is truly large scale, easily expandable, simply powerful yet powerfully simple.

  • Inception supports offline door expansion via the “Intelligent LAN Access Module” (ILAM).  The ILAM is an intelligent module that synchronises the full user database with the Inception controller, up to 10,000 users.  Being intelligent, the ILAM will continue to operate and provide access control and buffer events, even when there is a loss of communication with the Inception controller.

  • ILAM’s also support the integration of wireless door locking solutions making Inception the perfect choice for providing access control on existing sites up to 128 doors.

  • Inception supports “SkyTunnel”, Inner Range's free cloud “P2P” connection service for remote connectivity, which removes the requirement for the traditional method of port-forwarding, which is much more difficult to setup and generally considered less secure by the IT industry.

  • Inception includes a free and open REST XML API, so that third party developers can easily write interfaces to this powerful system.

  • Inner Range has developed many integrations between Inception and industry leading vendors, such Control4, Hanwha WAVE/NX Witness, Milestone ACM and the list goes on.  Inception can provide an integrated solution for single sites that is easy to install, configure and manage either remotely or on site.
